A video making rounds on social media shows the unfortunate incident which occurred at the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Ile-Ife Zoological Park, where a nine-year-old hungry lion mauled the Zoological technician, Olabode Olawuyi.
The unfortunate incident happened on Monday, February 19, and harrowing aftermath was captured in a video that has surfaced online.
Olabode Olawuyi, was a seasoned Veterinary Technologist with over a decade of experience and was in charge of the Zoological garden at OAU.
The distressing video portrays the aftermath of the lion’s mauling, with Olawuyi lying unconscious and bloodied on the floor.
At the end of the video, a staff member takes took the decisive action and pulled out a firearm, aiming it at the lion that attacked Olawuyi, killing.
The public relations officer of the University, Abiodun Olarewaju, released a statement confirming the tragic incident and expressing condolences to Olawuyi’s family.
